NA (No answer)

NA is an accepted abbreviation in market research that is used to indicate no response to a survey question. NA either means the respondent refused to reply, the question did not apply to him/her or it was skipped for some reason.

Often the answer option is not included in survey questionnaires. However, if respondents are thus forced to give wrong answers or to choose answers that do not apply to them, it may create irritation and a wrong basis for decisions. If it is important to collect precise data, it is a good idea to include “NA/don’t know/no opinion” among the answer options.
