Measurement


A measurement is the quantitative assessment of the value of a measurement category. This measurement category can be a physical value, but also any other parameter or index, such as e.g. inflation rate, intelligence quotient or customer satisfaction.

In market research the process of determining a particular value of measurement category and the allocation of scales (numbers or symbols) to objects (incidents, persons, companies etc.) according to certain rules (measuring instruments) is called measurement.
